Spring is popping out everywhere and so are white blossoms. I love white flowers! I can’t wait for my white phlox this year. (My phone camera is basic. I’ll have to use my good camera next time.) Here they are:

I’ve been grinning since my youngest granddaughter brought home her school assignment. She’s 10 and spends a great deal of time with me. I am so blessed to live near my granddaughters. The assignment was to write a friendly letter to someone. It’s posted below and speaks for itself. 😀
We got some snow last week. I know that many people are inconvenienced by measurable snowfall, but I love it! It’s pretty, and most importantly to me, it makes all the insane “git ‘er done!” bustling slow to a crawl. Schedules are temporarily suspended. Either I was born one hundred years too late or I’m just a ‘stop and smell the roses’ type, but the pace of living often dismays me. That’s no doubt why escaping to the woods regenerates me.
I’m hoping Mother Nature will offer me a few snowier pauses this year. She’s been taking her own breaks from bringing winter on fully. Hey… she’s no ‘spring chicken’ perhaps she needs to pause too!
Happy Spring! This Sillyfrog thinks Spring is the BEST season. Wood frogs are among my favorite ‘cousins’ and this last weekend there was rain and warmth inspiring a big night of migration for these fascinating creatures.

Wood frogs (above) live on the forest floor and freeze solid during the winter! They can be found as far North as the Arctic Circle. Their window for mating is quite small and can be observed for about a week. This makes their ‘coming out party’ a big event on my calendar! Salamanders (below) follow a similar pattern that coincides with their amphibian cousins. They don’t make a loud chorus so you may be unaware that they’re around. Photo by sillyfrog
I made my own cute informational video several years ago but couldn’t locate it for this post. This video was made 2 years ago not too far from where I live. Listen for the frogs’ noisy celebration of Spring. I’m stoked for more springtime magic. I’ll keep you posted. ❤
With the holidays behind us, there’s much still to be thankful for. My daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughters got Covid-19 the day after Christmas. They’re all back on their feet and armed with natural anti-bodies now. That gives this Mom ,and Grandma, much comfort! There’s nothing better than natural immunity through our own immune response. I rest easier now about their futures. It doesn’t get better than knowing your family is safer. ❤ BTW-My husband and I were with them on Christmas. We never got sick. That’s a smile for us too!
There were many smiles last week. My eldest granddaughter’s softball team won their season championship. The season was extra long, and interfered with our weekend camping, because an enormous number of rain cancellations so I cheered for their victory but was also cheering for our August camping. My daughter and son-in-law built their own chicken coop during the 2020 shutdown and bought some chicks in March this year. The eggs just started to ‘roll in’ and we’re very excited!
Finally, I’m going to show you the fruit of my labor to grow my own tomato plant in a pot. I’m laughing at myself but also you need to know that I set up my Mom with tomatoes in the same way. I used premium soil in the pots for her and leftover older soil for my own. My Mom has bushes growing with a big yield coming. And I?
Ha ha! I’ll be getting a tomato… maybe? Well, doing your best for others is the way it’s supposed to go, right? Makes me smile to learn that our efforts are only as good as the soil we use. (It seems there’s a profound parable in there somewhere.) 😀 Thanks for stopping by!
Smile One: Last week we had a scare with my ‘granddog’ who ultimately had a UTI. Because she’s ‘getting on’, the expectation of a tumor was high. After a scan, she was given a clean bill of health and an assurance there’s no sign of any growths. Incidentally, my daughter’s fee for the Vet visit was $ 222.22. (It could have been worse. She had a sonogram, shot updates, yearly physical, and got medicine.) and it was July 22nd. To me, it was God’s sign that my prayers had been answered. He could have made her fee $22.22 but then He would have just been ‘showing off’. LOL Smile Two: I had a lovely impromptu visit with my mother and sister. My sister has finally reached a feeling and ‘look’ of health after open-heart surgery in May! Smile Three: I’m getting a long overdue hair cut today! The reason that it’s been a year since I’ve had one is because I had lost all my phone contacts when my phone cover shifted and reset everything. I was cleaning my bulletin board on Friday and found my ‘house call hairdresser’s’ number on a buried ancient slip of paper and set up today’s appointment. Later that Friday, I crossed paths with her at the grocery store! I’d been hoping to run into her for months. UGH! Isn’t that always the way things go? LOL
Since so many other online writers have blogs dedicated to their writings, I’ve decided to jump onto the bandwagon. All posts published here will be either fiction or poetry, some new, and some previously published on various places on the Internet. Some of my works are conventional, and some are quirky. All fiction posted here, except for fan fiction, will include the letters "rose" somewhere, as a tribute to my Baba.
