Ronovan Writes SIJO Wednesday 2/1/23- Delicious are Dreamers

Use ESCAPE as your inspiration this week.


You should use the word in the title of this post as your inspiration as either a theme of the Sijo or in the poem itself.

There are:

  • Three Lines
  • 14-16 syllables per line
  • A total of 44-46 syllables for the entire poem.

    Delicious are Dreamers

    Hide your mind from topics too cruel for your delicate hearts,
    And discount ugliness for a safe escape to enchantment.
    For tender ‘dreamers’ make the most delicious dish of tyrants.

March 25 2021, prompt: In 99 words (no more, no less), write an escape. It can be daring or subtle. Who is escaping from what and why? Go where the prompt leads!
Charli’s Carrot Ranch Prompt:

Escaping The Madness

“It’s everywhere!
No, not the virus. We know that comes and goes as it pleases.
The topic… the hype… the space it takes up in our psyche is the part that enslaves us.
Of course I’m not mad about it. I’m just so very tired of it.
Every effort I make to escape from the dehumanizing effects and there they are jogging in sunshine wearing masks!
Every other poem and post… signs on doors… children not allowed to be themselves even though they’re thankfully not in any danger.
Sometimes all we can do is not to participate.
Camping anyone?”
