It was an inspired new logo. The “green agenda” that had been perpetrated on the country with false claims and for nefarious reasons was finally getting resistance. Sales of t-shirts with the clever logo showing a visualized shattering of the environmentally unfriendly power grabbing Green Agenda’s hold on public opinion were through the roof! There just may be a hopeful direction for the country on the horizon as the voting public obviously wants their dismay and disillusionment to be known… and shown.
Our challenge is to write a story in only six minutes using the image below. Any and all resemblances to ‘real life’ in my tale, are not coincidental. 😉
“…And the Daddy SUV said, “Who has been eating up my fuel?! Then the Mommy SUV said, “Somebody’s been eating up MY fuel too!” Then the little SUV said, “Somebody’s been eating up my fuel and THERE they are!”
It was a large delegation of the proponents of the Green New Deal who had flown into town on private jets from their beachfront homes and were handing out flyers about the desperate crisis of “Climate Change”. By the time they left, all the people were alarmed and at each other’s throats about what to do about “the immanent end of the World”. As the delegation boarded their private jets to return to their comfortable lives a voice was overheard in the group saying, “Look at those despondent SUVs. Maybe we should tell them our intentions aren’t meant to harm them because those “poor bastards” can’t vote. Anyone for seafood? We’re flying in lobster today.”
“Well, the people labeling everything these days ought to be fired!”
“Why are you so upset?”
“Because labels matter. One modifying word can set the tone. What if we called the “climate crisis” the “climate obstacle”? That dumbass “crisis” modifier is meant to frighten everyone! People have always had the ability to innovate and adapt to challenges. Scaring everybody is counterproductive. You can ‘bet the farm’ that the new age labeling of things has underlying usefulness to someone.”
“You’re so cynical. Relax.”
“Really? What does calling a generation “X” or “Z” tell us? It tells me that they aren’t important enough to have a real name, much less, a legacy. I’m starting to believe that today’s powerful people intend to promote hopelessness. Heck… on top of that our youth are encouraged to be ‘stoned’ and ‘hypnotized’ by Tik Tok. There’s something diabolical going on buddy!”
“You’re just being one of those ‘conspiracy theorists’. Let’s get a drink and watch a game.”
“You go ahead. I’m going to pick up my grandkids and we’re going to ‘hang out’. I’d like to think they’d become the “Reckoning Generation”. We Boomers are obligated to light a few “fires” and it starts with influencing our grandchildren.”
Janus is the god of beginnings, gates, transitions, time, duality, doorways, passages, frames, and endings. He is usually depicted as having two faces. The month of January is named for Janus.

We counted backwards at midnight on 31st December 2022.
How should we go forward now? I need to know how many months, weeks, days I have to make my life or this world a better place to survive. I may not die at the end of this year, nor will the world end. But it will be criminal to lose time.
Or do you prefer going with the flow, and letting life unfold on its own?
I would love to see your take on this.
A Story of Arrogance Sponsored by Greed
Shelly was excited to get busy! Her major in Earth Sciences had prepared her for a career in meteorology but her university experience had given her an unrequested minor in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. She was determined to make a BIG impact and “save the world”!
Immediately Shelly was inducted into a graduate program with a mission to ‘solve’ Climate Change. It was well funded by the U.S. government so Shelly knew her scientific energy wouldn’t have any barriers. She began at once.
The weather was after all primarily influenced by the winds, so she decided to chart all incidences of the doldrums-which was a name for the stagnating occurrence of a ‘pause’ in the flow of ocean winds. She felt that increases in that ‘pausing’ of wind currents was a crucial clue that could lead her to making an impactful discovery thus solving the Climate Change Crisis and saving the whole world.
Having spent the first morning in an induction mandatory “equity” training, she couldn’t wait to jump into her research! But like an electric shock, her training’s ‘philosophy’ abruptly bumped up against her ‘scientific expertise’ and she almost lost her balance as she sank into a chair.
On one hand, she was supposed to make mankind ‘healthier’ by diligently working to produce equal human outcomes, but her wind flow studies clearly indicated that unequal forces were the basis for the wind which maintained nearly all of the Earth’s health.
Shelly felt numb but continued to examine that paradox. Was the DEI movement a cloaked, contradictory, cause with hidden motives? Why hadn’t she noticed that?!
Shelly paced while talking to herself. “Diversity and equity can’t even occupy the same space much less the same cause! Either the mission is to embrace ‘differences’, or it’s seeking to produce ‘sameness’, it can’t possibly do both. Sameness is a ‘death sentence’ in Nature. I’m not sure human ‘sameness’ would automatically be good for the World.”
When she brought her confusion to the also well-funded DEI unit assigned to her program, she was told to never, ever, express her questions and concerns to anyone. The reason they bluntly PRIVATELY offered was, “We will most certainly lose our funding and YOU will lose your job!”
Shelly knew it would be “criminal to lose time in her pursuit of ‘saving the world’ ” but it now was crystal clear that that egotistical super-human activity shouldn’t have ever been her focus.
Feeling foolish and embarrassed, she handed in her job resignation the next day and decided to run for public office where she could have a better chance of saving her own community (perhaps her country) from being bamboozled into wasting valuable monetary resources on ‘pie in the sky’ goals. An arrogant human element was more immediately endangering everyone than Climate Change, and its name was GREED.
She’d struggle to bring up topics that weren’t deemed ‘political’. The weather leads to Climate Change. Shopping leads to Inflation. Ask about how the kids like school and CRT and Common Core are there. Don’t dare to sneeze or you’ll get Covid glares. Even asking if the new grandbaby is a boy or girl, is a quagmire! Perpetual politics were the tragic “New Normal”. Silence wasn’t her style, so she bought, and beautifully wrapped, a pocket U.S. Constitution for everyone. Now for some fun!
There’s an awful lot of angst and money being invested in a perceived “Climate Crisis”. To be sure, the Earth’s climate is changing but calling it an ‘existential crisis’ seems a bit exaggerated. A crisis basically is described as a ‘tipping point’ between survival and disaster. Something that requires action in order to curb an imminent threat. The only crisis I can see is a self-imposed one. The rejection of the value of and reliance on “fossil fuels” is speedily heading us toward a ‘cliff’. Western governments are cutting off reliable, plentiful, affordable energy while experimenting with terribly unreliable forms of ‘renewable energy’ (that aren’t perfected yet) at the expense of human lives and national security. They’re trying to shut off all the ‘lights’ before we can locate ‘the candles and matches’! Who actually are those geniuses who found and defined the Climate Change Crisis? I hope it wasn’t the same ones who promoted the ‘shutdowns’ during the spread of the Covid-19 virus! That brand-new ‘brilliant’ approach to pandemics was devastatingly destructive.
The climate ‘scare’ is directly coming from a reliance on hand-picked “expert” predictions -experts who are wealthy and secure enough not to feel the consequences of their ‘guesses’- and often stand to get wealthier and more powerful. They aren’t using their own wealth either. They’re investing your future and prosperity.
Let’s look at predictions. They’re done by using computer models. Whoa! Computers are even smarter than ‘experts’, right? Um… no they aren’t. They only use the information ‘fed’ to them by the ‘experts’. Have you ever seen the computer models projecting the path of a hurricane using moment to moment numbers? They look like a toddler’s first attempt at coloring!
{Check out the diversity of Climate Change models sometime. They too are “all over the map”.}
Only a grandma would think the above picture suitable for hanging on the frig. As an example of “fact”, it’s useless. But predicting the End of the World must be easier, right? LOL Give me a break.
So, I want to leave you with some advice:
Never litter. Always be conscious of not wasting energy. {I’ve heard that about 47 private jets transported ‘big shots’ to the last Climate Crisis Conference. Many of them own beach front property too.} Never waste water. (Potable H2O is far scarcer than petroleum and natural gas.) Recycle when you’re able. And examine everything that’s proposed by “experts” or government thoroughly.
Nature is not fragile, nor does it operate at the pleasure of humans. The most recent example of Nature over Human Intervention is evident in the large number of otherwise healthy people harmed (and yet to find out they’ve been harmed) by an experimental medicine, who likely would have been okay if they had relied on their “natural” immune systems and using common sense.
The call to a Crisis should always make you question everything. If censorship over any discussions or questioning of the “crisis” are revealed, double-down on your research! There’s always something “rotten” going on somewhere when people are silenced and it’s up to YOU to find out what it is.
PS… “Fact checkers” are full of manure… trust your own brain.
Our prompt is to write about an abrupt change in climate. Truth is ALWAYS stranger than fiction.
It was Mother’s Day and we were camping. May was the beginning of our seasonal camping and we brought shorts, hot dogs, marshmallows, and of course, cold beer on ice! The morning awakened us to a bone chilling drizzle and temperatures in the upper 40’s F. Mid morning brought winds and an arctic blast turning the drizzle to snow! Our disappointment could not be hidden as we added layers to our clothing for warmth. No one thought to bring mittens and scarves. We warmed soup, and coffee, and discussed heading for home when a midday sun broke through the clouds and blue skies lined the horizon. We shed layer after layer as the day moved along. By 4:00 pm, all the campers were wearing shorts and sandals under a bright sun that wasn’t done with us yet. It was 75 degrees F. and still warming! The breeze finally died away leaving us in a humid 88 degree swelter by 6:00 pm. That night, we ran fans and slept in t-shirts. This is a true story. We live in New England, U.S.A. where we have a saying: “This is New England. If you don’t like the weather, wait a few minutes… it will change.”
Since so many other online writers have blogs dedicated to their writings, I’ve decided to jump onto the bandwagon. All posts published here will be either fiction or poetry, some new, and some previously published on various places on the Internet. Some of my works are conventional, and some are quirky. All fiction posted here, except for fan fiction, will include the letters "rose" somewhere, as a tribute to my Baba.
