It’s that time again. For those of you new to the Quadrille, this is a poetry form originating here, from our very own virtual pub! We are writing poems of exactly 44 words, excluding the title BUT it must include a given word. Today, I give you the word …..
“smudge”.
A cockroach told a royal lie,
That ‘smudge’ turned into rumors.
Told the king his son would die,
From malignant tumors.
Common knowledge made them cry,
‘Til a wise man shook his fist.
“You listened to that cockroach guy?!”
Mass anguish solved by “squish“.

“Squish” all those false rumors! 😀
Absolutely! 😀
Roaches scurry away in the light (of truth.)
Excellent observation! 😉
🙂
Not even frogs like cockroaches!! :>) Great poem. it made me smile!
For sure! lol
I’ve seen frogs spit beetles out with disgust.
Glad to bring smiles! 😀
You are welcome! I don’t like them either!! :>)
Haha. Great poem, Susan. Squish definitely solves the issues
😊 Thanks, Shweta. It surely does.
You’re very welcome 🙂
Love this!
Thank you, Carol.
Cockroaches are talking to many people these days. lol
Never believe words from the cockroach’s mouth! Nice smudging 🙂
Much appreciated, Ingrid.
Silliness with an underlying message lives here. 😀
Hello, Susan
that’s a great poem about MR Roach! Well done.
Thank you, Mason.
Keep an eye out for those ‘cockroaches’. 😉
You’re welcome.
I keep a tidy, clean kitchen to keep those beasties out!
LOL… I meant the kind who tell lies. But avoiding that creepy kind is good!
Haha! Yes, no those are harder to get rid off. There are so many liars, cheaters and stealers in all guises. Avoiding them all is hard work!
wow, Susan – this isn’t a limerick, obviously, but it feels like one to me… I really enjoyed this! 🙂
-David
Cool… it does have that lighthearted punch. Thanks for your interesting observation, David!
Oh those cockroaches really bug me too.
😀 Glad you can see them too. Many people can’t. lol
An amusing read, well done!
Thanks. Glad you liked it!
The only good cockroach is a squished cockroach! May be harsh to say but that’s my truth. 🙂 Like David, your poem had a limerick feel to it to me which are really fun.
Much appreciated! So happy that it was fun!
I like the cockroach as the liar in this piece. Suits him well!
😀 Thanks… it suits a liar well.
Absolutely!
Maybe the roaches are better than they are rumored to be… but still there is only one way to put an end to them.
😀 Well, if they didn’t lie, maybe? Thanks for your comment.
