The Smith’s owned adjoining property to the Joneses. (What are those odds?)
Mrs. Smith cultivated a beautiful rose garden along the property line. As luck would have it, her most prized specimen tipped its bounty into the Joneses yard.
Seven stunning blossoms now enhanced a foreign property.
Proper etiquette frowned upon Mrs. Smith trespassing to claim her beloved beauties and
Mrs. Jones felt she shouldn’t cut them unless she equally shared them with the plant’s owner.
So they hang there still; uncut and unadorned in any vase.
If only there’d been an even number, an arrangement may have been made.

A pretty dilemma
😀 Thanks.
Sounds like the best plan *was* made
Sometimes doing nothing works out… unless you’re a U.S. Senator. LOL 😉
Those tricky neighbourly relationships! Nice one.
It’s a thin line to tread. 😉

Good story with surprising depth.
Deeply appreciate your comment. 😀
You are welcome!
Dear Susan,
Perhaps if they’d communicated they might have worked out a compromise. Nicely done.
Shalom,
Rochelle
‘Speaking up’ is sadly not deemed polite anymore. 😉 Thanks so much! Peace.
Neighbourhood dramas in a nutshell, brilliantly put
Appreciate the praise! Thank you.
Oh, this is a pretty dilemma, and … I think, good neighbors on all sides. So that already is an arrangement worth keeping. 🙂
Great observation! Thanks.
🙂
I rather love that they were both respectful of the other. and hey, they do look oh so pretty in their winter muffs…
Yeah… I hear you, but, personally, I’m an ‘honesty is the best policy’ person. It allows people to openly share.
As am I. But for the story’s sake… 🙂
I had a similarly awkward situation with a neighbour’s apple tree! Nice take Susan.
Thank you sir. Neighborly tension is quite common. 😀
Great use of words, hints of a smile every now and then.
Thanks… I aim for smiles. 😁
At least they’re both being very polite about it all. I’m glad the flowers are staying in the ground, where they belong 🙂
One enjoyed growing them. The other enjoyed seeing them. Everybody won. 🙂
Being a good neighbour can be difficult at times.
That is so true. Thanks for commenting!
I think a peaceful resolution for both sides, both practicing good neighborliness. Lovely snippet of life! =)
Sometimes ‘doing nothing’ is a good practice. Thank you, Brenda.
