SoCS- Last Nerve

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “nerve.” Use it any way you’d like. Have fun!

Maxine peeked out from behind her light-filtering drapes seated at her well-worn barstool observation post.
“The nerve of those people parking on the street! Did you hear me Stanley? What if we needed an ambulance?! “.
Stanley sedately continued reading his magazine.
“I’ll give them 5 minutes THEN I’m calling the police!”
Maxine was now standing directly in the window.
“Look Stanley! There’s another car. They’re having a party or something!”.
Stanley licked his thumb and turned another page.
“Damn it! You’re the man, DO SOMETHING or I surely will!”

The ambulance wasn’t able to easily get to the house because of illegally parked cars.
That delay, made the head injury fatal.
The official police statement read, ” I begged her never to stand on that old stool but she wasn’t one to listen to me.”.

Written for Linda G. Hill’s Stream of Consciousness Saturday prompt. Linda has given us the word “nerve” and instructed us to use it any way we want.

I love a well told story. If it makes me laugh, all the better.
