I want to jump
And not come down.
Floating way
Above the ground.
My sneakers staying
ever new.
With power packs for
Flying too.
I’d move my arms
Like when I swim.
Won’t have to take
The bus again.
At my school
I’d be above,
All those lines
And every shove.
“Slam dunk” champ.
No skinned knees,
Saving kites
Caught up in trees.
I’ll sleep on clouds
No lumpy bed.
The moon, my nightlight,
Overhead.
At supper time,
My Mom throws up,
A dinner plate,
My meal and cup.
Untie my shoes
And I’ll come down.
When I get lonesome
For the ground.
I’ll take my bath,
Pick up my clothes.
And get some mud
Between my toes.
I won’t stay long,
I love the air.
Most my time,
I’ll be up there.
Nice post and lovely picture!
Appreciate your visit…thanks!
Good poem.
Thanks 🙂
I can’t wait to read this to my grandsons! They’re coming over after school.
Oh goodie! Tell me if they enjoy it, please! Thanks!
This is just precious. At least once a week my fifteen year old talks about super powers. I don’t know if we ever lose that desire. I think life just takes over, and we haven’t time to think about it anymore…except maybe wanting extra hands or eyes in the back of our heads. 😉 Really enjoyed this.
Thanks…yes, superpowers are cool to consider! I’ve decide that new mothers should grow an extra pair of hands that fall off when the kids go to school. Then again, the may just need those extra hands for prayer when the kids become teenagers. ~Susan
You absolutely need them for prayer. Maybe more knees too. 😉
Sweet! – it would be a much happier world if we all could hold onto our dreams, and keep dreaming past childhood…
That is so very true…thanks!

I love this part such a carefree child loving beauty in this all!
Appreciate your appreciation of kids too! Thanks!
You have taken a nice look from a child’s perspective 🙂
Thanks…I’m around them all the time. I feel so lucky.~Susan
